Let’s talk
Automation

Automate repetition. Preserve the conversation.

ORELAN JOURNAL 1 min read

Good automation gives customer service context, not more obstacles.

Automating a broken process repeats it

Map the process before choosing a tool. Identify what starts the workflow, the information required, who owns each stage and when a person should intervene. Otherwise, automation executes a sequence without a clear role in the customer experience.

Context matters more than volume

A follow-up should reflect the previous conversation. Avoid asking answered questions, sending reminders after purchase or continuing after someone asks you to stop. Exit conditions should be as clear as entry conditions.

Start small and observe

Choose one repetitive task, such as organising enquiries or reminding a team to return a call. Validate it with real situations before expanding. Useful automation leaves room for human judgement when the context demands it.
